Writer Fyodor Dostoevsky lived in my home town of Staraya Russa. He wrote about my hometown and its inhabitants.

Awesome videos! Thanks for showing me :] I have heard of Nizhny Novgorod before. Is Staraya in this region?

Also, that fountain, is this a landmark in Staraya? I noticed its in all 3 videos :] Thanks again....really enjoyed ;-)

@Tara. Nizhny Novgorod and Novgorod (Veliky Novgorod) are two different cities that are located far from each other.

Staraya Russa, near Novgorod (near Veliky Novgorod, not to Nizhny Novgorod).

Many of the Russian did not know the difference between Novgorod and Nizhny Novgorod. :)

ahhh I see :] I compared both maps in wiki and Nizhny is further South East? Now (for 1 year) you are in Kursk Oblast region? Alot of places have 'Oblast' on the end of the names =D Does this have a significance/meaning?

Oblast - is a large unit of territorial division of Russia, which includes territorial units - Rayon (Rajon).

wow...looks like he has made himself a nice home and life. Some people are happier living in the wild. I would live like that....as long as I have the internet and all my favorite programs =D This is very interesting. Yes, I thought that fountain was a landmark. I would love to see all of these in real life :]

I think I read in wiki that Staraya is known for its Minerals....they have therapeutic properties? This is hard to explain =D You know how people bath in hot springs/mineral baths? Is this correct?

@Tara. In Staraya Russa, drink mineral water, breathing the vapors of mineral water and take baths in mud.

In Staraya Russa, a salt lakes, which are not covered by ice in winter.

Staraya (Старая) word translates into English as the Old. :)
